Halloween Entryway Decor
Sorry for the delay in posting, I know I promised some more Halloween decor reveals yesterday, but well, things just got busy…
Have I ever mentioned how Fall and Spring are my all-time favorite seasons of the year? Yeah… sitting in front of a computer sometimes gets in the way of me enjoying that with my crew.
Speaking of “my people”, I got busted recording this little bird yesterday, singing her heart out. Just in case you didn’t catch it on our Instagram feed… see below
Man I love that girl. She’s been so patient with me and Cason as we’ve moved from one area of the house to another, finishing up projects and trying to get everything ready for the holidays. She even helped me shoot a few of these pictures, to show all of you our Halloween entryway decorations! I use a tripod and clicker, so it wasn’t too technical, but she still loved pushing the button ๐
I couldn’t be happier with how all of this fun decor turned out. I’m sure a bunch of you are noticing a few things from prior years Halloween decorating, but there’s also a couple of new things too, in hopes to freshen everything up a little.
The black stand, skull and “book of spells” were all used items from our other Halloween decorating posts, but I found this $3 gold, glittery pumpkin at Walmart, a pretty milk glass vase at a thrift store for $1.00, and some fun striped sticks and black florals at Ikea for a few bucks. Oh! and the little crows we hung were just from the dollar store.
I wanted a collection of plates on my entryway wall, next to my new favorite starburst mirror from Joss & Main, but I was NOT feeling up for patching a bunch of tiny holes in about 30 days, so I found a great solution. DISC adhesive plate hangers from Hobby Lobby, and those mini clear command strips! Ta-Da! no holes, and all the plates have held up great!
To get everything perfectly where I needed it, I just gathered up all of the plates I wanted to use, and made paper templates so I could move those around the wall, while trying to decide where each plate was going to look best. Paper templates ROCK! They’re way easier to move around than the actual item you’re hanging (pictures, plates, etc…).
I switched my plates out a few times, but in the end decided to go with these ones. The branch and lace-trimmed plates were from Homegoods, but all of the others (layered burst, mini polka dots, girl silhouette and flower pom) were just simple white plates bought at Tai pan and thrift stores for a few dollars, then embellished with vinyl decals from our shop that I designed.
You can buy just one or all of the designs for a plate YOU have, in our House of Smiths Designs Shop.
You can see how to make our DIY labeled Potion Collection with Display Box from our last post.
A fun, quick addition on the other side of the entryway is “scary Larry“… yup, that’s what we’re calling him. Obviously he’s not scary at all, but he definitely needed a name. Really though, I seriously can’t go ONE freakin’ celebration or holiday without SOME kind of Caravan Shoppe print, I swear! I’m IN LOVE with these things! They’re only $5.00 for the download and like $6.00 to print off at Staples, in this HUGE size! Don’t worry, I’m doing a whole post about Caravan’s cute stuff later.
Of course, last but not least, the polka dot rug!… that was from Ikea and only like $20. They’ve also got it in a pretty orange color too.
There you have it! Fun, easy, Halloween entryway decor that you can pretty much do most of all by yourself; so there are no excuses. Get going and start decorating, it’s already the 3rd of October! ๐

I am curious what paint color your entryway is? Is it the Autumn Haze? The decor looks great!

That picture with kids & hubby is adorable. It's even better since your adorable puppy is in it! Also, as with everyone else, I want that table! I can't start entryway decorating without the perfect table!
