Traditional, Scary & Creepy Halloween Porch and Yard Decorating Ideas
The Color Red:
Adding the color red automatically sends up a warning flag for most of us. It means emergency or stop, so draping the color red around your door, or adding even just a few drips of fake blood here or there will have people alluding to the fact that there is danger nearby.
Even just a disturbing pumpkin carving can throw people off of their game. If you’re trying to think of an inexpensive, creative way to scare, then this might be the perfect route to go.
Frightening Figures:
Usually the unknown is what scares people the most. Mummies and ghosts are a great way to creep your guests out, as they approach your door. You can purchase already made figures or handcraft some of your own with paper mache and chicken wire.

Fun ideas! I'm definitely more of a cute Halloween decorator than scary…though I don't mind some of the creepy ideas, I'm really liking those bats on the front door!

There are some days that my kids look like they could be stuck out on the porch as part of the Halloween display.

What an awesome round-up! We are doing an insane asylum theme in our front yard, just posted some pics today, still more to come though ๐

Great round up. I always enjoy looking at everyones halloween style. I tend to lean more towards traditional I guess. I don't really have many creepy decor things. Although, creepy jackolanterns count right ? ๐

This year we're going simple, but next year I'm going over the top insane with a scary as heck set up. ๐ I LOVE Halloween and being scared.
I wish there were more decorations for El Dia De Los Muertos. I was going to do that this year but couldn't find anything I would need.

Lovin' this roundup – those carved pumpkins are fantastic! they made me laugh lol – I think they're more 'witty' and creative, which I tend to go for rather than the standard 'spooky'. I like the black/white striped pillows in particular, and I really like your trick-or-treat sign! P.S. the comment that BlueBabesCreate made was hilarious – I remember those days!

Some of these are a riot! Love the bats flying over the door. I went a little crow crazy with my decorating this year. Thanks for the inspiration…I'm pinning some of these for next year.

In the very first top left picture, are those blinds in your window? We have some tall skinny windows by our front door and we're not sure how to cover them. Thanks!

Creepy, scary, gruesome, I hate it all. Ugh. I love fall decor, just not Halloween. I guess I'm a Halloween scrooge. Ha!
SJ@SweeterStill says
I stick to traditional fall with a hint of Halloween up until the day before and then we go all out. This year I'm working around a theme, which I'm really excited about. You should check out Brooklyn Limestone – her outside Halloween decor is a-mahzing and so creative, but would make me afraid to walk up to my own front door!

Growing up we usually did something big for Halloween. I remember doing a "Mad Scientist" theme one year and we had a candy making machine made from pool noodles and bowls and dry ice. My dad (the mad scientist) would "make" the candy and while he had everyone distracted with the show I would sneak some candy into the dry ice bowl. It was so much fun! This year we have our daughter to celebrate with (18 months) and so we think we will do our yard decked out in scary creepy stuff and let the guys handle that part and us gals will stick to driveway handing candy to the little ones ๐
