This sounds like lots of fun. I have started to redo my daughters old nursery into my office, we live in a 120 year old home, and I kid you not we have 2 closets in the whole house. One is long and narrow, the other is nice and deep, perfect for an office really if we had other closets to spare. lol

This looks like a fun contest! And I really appreciate that quote – I adore smaller spaces and creative applications. It definitely shows a touch of genius to make a closet or a bookshelf into a workable, enjoyable home office. I'll be taking a few of these tips since my craft space is quite small, too.

Thanks for all these beautiful, creative organizing solutions and "craft rooms in a closet". I, too, have been pinning these kinds of ideas as I've worked on our Basement Craft Room project. I love to see how creative people get when it comes to organizing!

Okay, I am SOO glad you shared this! I have been mulling over the idea of turning my "coat" closet into an office space. It is currently filled with plastic drawer bins holding my DIY and craft stuff. Not one coat to be found.. Lol! And my laptop… yeeah, thats on my kitchen table. Thank you for this post, because now, that closet is going to be trandformed! :]

I just started reading your blog yesterday and loved it, so I came back today to read more! I have to share what a coincidence today's post is for me. First, I was just married to a Mr. Smith in November. Today we put an offer on a house that has a huge closet with no door in the kitchen. Last night, I told my husband that I thought we should convert it into an office, but he had trouble picturing it. Today, I started searching for pictures (just like the ones you posted!) and sent him several ideas. Can you imagine my surprise when I come to your blog and you've done an entire post on this exact project?? Perfect timing!!

Oh my goodness I'm going crazy over here! I want to see your after pics. I mean I now know you are making your coat closet into an office space but I want proof. Pretty Please. Also, congrats on your weight loss and journey (in itself). A quote for you: "A goal without a plan…is just a wish." You can do it! Love your blog! Thank you for always sharing.

Yes, I agree with Kay. This has just inspired me to do away with our entry way closet. That thing will no longer be a collect all. YAY! Thanks for the greatness (as always)! <3

I completed my closet to office conversion recently, and I love it. I actually managed to make the whole thing using recycled materials (e.g. turning the original bi-fold doors into the desk and shelf) and making due with paint leftover from other projects. I blogged about the conversion here: thebookofjimmy.com/?p=346
It was a really fun and surprisingly easy project. I used little more than a jigsaw and drill as far as tools go.
