Chic Bathroom Wall Treatment Tutorial
Here it is!
Chic…Check
Girly…Check
So excited with the results, that I just stared at it for about 10 minuets…Check
I’m thrilled with how this turned out…
A screwed these 3 crystal knobs from Home Depot onto an extra piece of white painted, base board molding that we had left over.
This is where it all started.
I knew I didn’t want the old “towel bar” standby, because we have THREE little girls using this bathroom (no room for towel #3) and I KNEW that, that thing would end up getting ripped off the wall, from kids trying to “Hang” their towels up, after baths.
So the chic knob towel hanger was born!
After we held up the towel hanger… we stood back and knew we needed something else.
So we decided on some picture frame molding!
So here’s how we did it.
One of Cason’s friends told him to draw the actual LINES on the wall, where the molding would go… to guide him when he put it up!
Genius! It worked WONDERS!
Can you see the lines???
(excuse the picture quality for a minute… it was dark.)
So we cut our box frame edges at 45 degree angles and they looked a little something like this.
After we had all the pieces cut correctly, we started putting them up.
We used liquid nails, and some regular ol’ tape to keep them in place, while they dried… so we didn’t have to go back and fill in a bunch of nail holes, from the nail gun later.
Worked GREAT!
A little sanding of the nail holes that we DID make… where we hung the towel fixture, some puttying up of the cracks, and 2 coats of white semi-gloss paint…
And…
Ta-da! Cute molding!!!
I loved it! So fresh… different!
WAY better than the OLD towel bar!
buuuuuuuut… something was missing…lol.
Cue the VINYL! π lol.
I really wanted to do some kind of cool wall treatment inside the boxes, to make them pop, but didn’t have a stencil, wallpaper, or the patience to get any, so I decided to use vinyl!
Quick and easy! Just like a big sticker!
Here’s how I did this part.
Made up a design of the decal I wanted in my space.
Printed it out in powder blue… and hung them with a “tape hinge” in the box.
I peeled back the vinyl onto the sticky transfer tape, from the backing paper.
Here’s a tip. If the vinyl ever gets “stuck” on the backing paper, like this…
Then just use your finger or nail, to help it up, onto the sticky transfer tape.
Vinyl isn’t all that fragile. You can work with it, just like a regular sticker!
Once I had the whole decal peeled up, I applied it to the wall, by smoothing it down, from the top to the bottom.
I use a vinyl applicator tool, but you can use a plastic spatula, or a credit card!
I peeled the transfer tape off…leaving the decal on the wall… and did the same to the other side!
After they are both peeled off… this is what you have!
So fun, right!?
It just adds that extra touch that I was going for!
Loooove it!
And here it is with the towels.
Now I just need to find something great to go on that wall, above it all.
But BEFORE THAT… I need to finish what we are doing up here…
You guys are just gonna DIE! It’s gonna be so great~!
I know… I know… A girls work, is NEVER done! π
Update: The ceiling is done! Go HERE to see it! π
The color of paint I used was actually the left over Dockside Blue from Sherwin Williams, that I used in my kitchen… mixed with some semi-gloss white. lol. We had to stretch out the leftover blue, somehow!

It's called picture frame moulding–yes it does look like a box–but you build a picture frame the same way :o) My Dad is a finish carpenter–that's why I know what it's called.

I love it! You did a great job. As for something to put above the towel bar. How about individual pictures of the girls or a group picture of the girls. You could do a picture of them in the tub over running with bubbles to hide (body parts of course)and have their hair all wet and have them give you silly grins. I think that would make a neat picture to hang above the towel bar.

I am totally in love with this bathroom!!!
It's about the size of our only bathroom and we don't use the 'decorative' towls on the bar, so the knobs would be perfect for us.
Plus, I hate my over the toilet thing too!! I love that you cut yours down like that and hung it!
I love everything about it! π
